“Wrestle Against Autism" in its fourth year. The tournament started as a group of high school wrestling officials who were looking to give something back to the community. The tournament has grown to include both college and high school officials throughout Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania along with many volunteers throughout Ohio. Although gender does not dictate who autism will affect, research shows that mainly boys are affected by autism.
In 4 years WAA has grossed nearly $90,000 to help those with autism.
WAA has helped 4 families and 5 children get autism service dogs through 4 Paws for Ability. Each dog can run about $12-$15,000 per dog. WAA also helped a boy get a therapy salt water pool. Swimming is very therapeutic for those dealing with autism, but the chemicals cause a whole new set of problems.”
